Choose your district first. The Old Quarter, wrapped around Hoàn Kiếm Lake, is the walkable, noisy heart — street food and night markets at the door, best for a first visit. The French Quarter just southeast is quieter, with wider colonial streets. Tây Hồ, by West Lake, is the calm expat side, but a 15–20 minute ride from the centre.
