The walled heart of the Nguyễn court, seat of the emperors from 1802 to 1945 and part of the Complex of Hué Monuments inscribed by UNESCO in 1993. Enter through the Ngọ Môn gate to throne halls, temples and long galleries under ongoing restoration; a proper visit takes half a day.
