Hội An & Mỹ Sơn
Old-town lanterns and Cham temple ruins
Curated by Trip2VN3 daysPrivateFrom ~$160
Three days built around one of Asia's best-preserved trading ports and the temple sanctuary in the hills behind it. Hội An rewards slowness — the town is small, the details are not — so this trip walks, cycles and eats its way through rather than ticking sights off a list.
Trip highlights
- Experience Mỹ Sơn sanctuary at first light, before the crowds.
- Stroll through Hội An's lantern-lit old town after day boats depart.
- Explore Hội An and surrounding villages by foot and bicycle.
- Enjoy two nights' accommodation in charming Hội An.
- Benefit from a private guide and car for a personalized journey.
Why we chose this trip
Timed against the crowds — Mỹ Sơn at first light, the old town after the day boats leave — because timing is what a guide is for.
How we assess →Day by day
Day 1
The old town on foot, then by lantern light
Pick-up in Đà Nẵng and thirty minutes down the coast. An afternoon among the shophouses, assembly halls and the Japanese covered bridge with a guide who can read the buildings — then dinner as the lanterns come on and the river fills with light.
Day 2
Mỹ Sơn at first light, villages by bicycle
Leave early to reach the Cham sanctuary before the tour buses — brick towers a thousand years old, standing in a jungle bowl. Back for lunch, then an easy afternoon cycle through rice paddies and the Trà Quế herb gardens.
Day 3
Beach morning, market lunch, your pace
A slow morning at An Bàng beach or a cooking class in a garden kitchen — your call. One last market lunch of cao lầu and white rose dumplings, then the drive back to Đà Nẵng.

Good to know
February to May is the driest window; October to December can flood — the town handles it with boats and good humour, but pack accordingly. On each lunar full moon the old town cuts electric light for the lantern festival, worth planning around.
