Day 1
Into the small canals
Trade the highway for the water early: a sampan through canals narrow enough to touch the nipa palms on both sides. An orchard stop where fruit is cut straight from the tree, then dinner cooked with your host family at the homestay.
Day 2
Cái Răng floating market at dawn
On the water before sunrise, because the market is a working one and its business is done by eight. Boats sell what hangs from their mast poles; breakfast is hot noodle soup passed across the gunwale. The afternoon visits a rice-paper workshop and cycles the village lanes.
Day 3
Islands and the slow way back
A last morning on the water — an island of stilt houses and fish farms, a coconut-candy kitchen — then back to Cần Thơ for lunch and your onward connection.

The market means one very early start — it is entirely worth it. December to April is dry season; August to November the river runs highest and the orchards are at their fullest. Mornings on the water are cool; middays are not.
