An Giang

An Giang is where the delta meets the mountains — Châu Đốc sits at the river mouth under the shadow of Sam mountain, with its temple complex and pilgrimage traffic. Inland, the Trà Sư cajuput forest opens into flooded plains, and the Thất Sơn (Seven Mountains) rise as mystical landmarks.

Since the merger, Phú Quốc island — once a world away — is now part of An Giang. Its beaches are the clearest on the delta coast, its fish sauce and pepper plantations are working heritage, and the island's quietness is in sharp contrast to the river-bound bustle of the mainland. Hà Tiên and Rạch Giá add coastal character, while U Minh Thượng swamps echo with migrant birds.
